Concluded

It all comes down to the web and marketing. Just because you build it, does not mean visitors will come. Even when they do come if it's not compelling, they won't become customers. There's a very fine line between effective web design, effective marketing and effective search engine optimization. All three are necessary to achieve success, but one cannot override the others.

There are three things which have to happen in order for a website to be effective. 1) It has to be found. If the search engines don't know your site exists, there's no point in having one. The search engines will make or break a web targeted venture.

2) Once it's found, it has to be visually appealing as well as clear in its communications. Visitors have to be able to understand what it is that the site is about and how to navigate to what they truly seek. And 3) It has to make it easy for visitors to act. That include adding products to a shopping cart and checking out, or filling out a request for quote. Whatever the course of action which is desired from a website visitor, the website has to make that action clear and desirable.

That's it. After twenty years in IT, it really does boil down to these basic, yet not necessararily evident, keys to success. Thank you for visiting and if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me.
